How to Avoid GTA 6 Spoilers: Mute Words on Every App

GTA 6 is a story game, and the internet will not wait for you to finish it. Here's how to mute it on every big app, step by step, before the spoilers start flowing.

When will GTA 6 spoilers start?

Possibly before November 19, 2026.

• ⚠️ Reported: review copies go out by the end of October, more than three weeks before launch, per Insider Gaming and NateTheHate via Notebookcheck.
• ⚠️ Reported: reviews go live before launch. Rockstar hasn't announced an embargo date.
• ⚠️ An alleged dev-build gameplay leak already surfaced on October 8. Rockstar hasn't commented, and we don't share or describe it.

Our advice: set your mutes this week, then forget about them until you've seen the credits.

Mute GTA 6 on X (Twitter)

✅ From X's own help page:

1. Go to Notifications and tap the gear icon.
2. Tap Muted, then Muted words.
3. Tap Add and enter one word or hashtag.
4. Choose Home timeline, Notifications, or both.
5. Under For how long? pick Forever, 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days.
6. Tap Save. Repeat for each word.

Good to know: muting isn't case-sensitive, and muting a word also mutes its hashtag (mute "lucia" and "#lucia" goes too). Muted posts can still show up in search, so don't search "GTA 6" in launch week.

Filter GTA 6 on TikTok

TikTok lets you filter videos by keyword in your For You feed, and its newsroom says these filters have been used over 190 million times.

1. Go to your Profile and tap the three lines (top right).
2. Open Settings and privacy, then Content preferences.
3. Tap Filter keywords and add your words.
4. Choose whether each filter applies to For You, Following, or both.

⚠️ This menu path comes from Adweek's walkthrough and may have moved slightly in newer app versions. TikTok's newsroom confirms a 100-keyword limit (with plans to go to 200) and a Smart Keyword Filter that also catches similar words.

One more thing: thumbnails and captions are where most launch spoilers will show up, so filter generously.

Hide GTA 6 posts on Instagram

Instagram's help center says that when you hide a suggested post, you can also hide other suggested posts with hashtags or captions containing specific words.

1. On a suggested GTA 6 post, tap the three dots.
2. Tap Not interested.
3. Choose Don't suggest posts with certain words and add your list.
4. Optional: tap the three dots again, pick Manage content preferences and turn on Snooze suggested post in feed for 30 days.

⚠️ This only covers suggested posts. Accounts you follow will still show up, so consider muting GTA accounts (yes, us too) until you've finished the story.

Mute GTA 6 on Reddit

Reddit lets you mute entire communities. Muted communities disappear from your Home and Popular feeds and notifications, and you can mute up to 1,000.

1. Open the community (for example r/GTA6).
2. Tap the three dots in the top right.
3. Tap Mute (on some versions, "Mute community").
4. Undo it later in Settings.

We couldn't verify a built-in keyword mute for the Reddit feed, so community muting is your main tool. Mute general gaming subreddits too in launch week.
