Do Cheats Disable Trophies in GTA 6? (What We Know)
Quick answer
Unknown. Rockstar hasn't confirmed whether GTA 6 has cheats at all, let alone how they affect trophies. In GTA 5, trophies and achievements were disabled while a cheat was active, and in Red Dead Redemption 2 cheats also blocked saving. Until we test it after the November 19, 2026 launch, assume cheats will cost you trophies.
You want to spawn a tank in Vice City. You also want the Platinum. Can you have both? Nobody knows yet for GTA 6. Rockstar's last two games do give a clear warning, though: in GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, cheats switched off trophies. Plan as if GTA 6 does the same until we've tested it.
Do cheats disable trophies in GTA 6?
Not confirmed. Two things are missing:
- ❌ Rockstar hasn't confirmed GTA 6 has cheats at all. No list, no input method, nothing official. More: GTA 6 cheats.
- ❌ Rockstar hasn't said anything about trophies, achievements or saving with cheats.
Any site telling you exactly how GTA 6 cheats affect trophies is guessing. The game unlocks on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. That's when we can test it.
How it worked in GTA 5
This is GTA 5, not GTA 6:
- Trophies and achievements were disabled while a cheat was active. GTABOOM's GTA 5 cheats FAQ says earning trophies or achievements "is disabled while cheat codes are active", and PowerPyx's trophy guide puts it bluntly: "all cheats disable trophies."
- Cheats didn't stick. Reloading or restarting the game removed active cheats, and you couldn't store cheats anywhere. You had to re-enter them each time.
- Story mode only. Cheats never worked in GTA Online.
How it worked in Red Dead Redemption 2
Also not GTA 6, but it's Rockstar's most recent open world, so it matters:
- Cheats were unlocked differently. You found cheat phrases (some from in-game newspapers sold by vendors, per Push Square) and entered them in a Cheats menu under Settings, instead of GTA 5-style button combos.
- Saving was disabled while cheats were active, according to Push Square and KeenGamer.
- Trophies and achievements were blocked while cheating.
- Sources disagree on how long that lasts. Prima Games says cheats disable trophies "for your save file", while other guides only describe it while cheats are active. Push Square's advice: make a new save before you cheat, "just to be on the safe side".

What to do if you want the Platinum
Until GTA 6 is tested, play it safe. These tips are based on how GTA 5 and RDR2 worked:
- Keep one clean save. Never use cheats on it. Do your trophy run there.
- Make a separate "cheat save" if you want to mess around.
- Don't save over your clean slot right after cheating.
- Reload before trophy attempts. In GTA 5, reloading cleared active cheats.
- Check the list first. Some trophies in past games were missable. Our GTA 6 trophies & achievements list will flag them once it's verified.
Watch out for "trophy unlocker" tools
Sites promising a tool that "unlocks all GTA 6 trophies" or a "cheat that keeps trophies on" are scams. The game isn't out, GTA 6 isn't on PC, and nobody can have built that. Same goes for "money cheats": how to make money fast in GTA 6 · GTA 6 fake codes & scams.
⏳ Awaiting launch: what we'll add on November 19
This page is a launch shell. If GTA 6 has cheats, we'll test it on our own playthrough and update this page with:
- Whether cheats disable trophies on PS5 and achievements on Xbox
- Whether that lasts for the session, until reload, or for the whole save file
- Whether saving and autosave still work with cheats on
- How to get back to a "clean" state safely
Get notified when this is verified: grab the free Day-1 Checklist below.
Our take: make your clean trophy save before you type a single cheat. If GTA 6 turns out to be more forgiving than GTA 5 and RDR2, you've lost nothing.
Key takeaways
- ⚠️ GTA 6: unknown. Rockstar hasn't confirmed cheats or their effect on trophies.

- RDR2: cheats disabled saving and blocked trophies; make a separate save first.
- Safe plan: keep one clean save for trophies, cheat on a different one.
- Tested answer: here after November 19, 2026.
