GTA 6 100% Completion: Checklist & What Counts

≈ ESTIMATELast updated:
Neon title card: GTA 6 100% completion checklist and what counts

Quick answer

Rockstar hasn't revealed what counts toward 100% in GTA 6. In GTA 5, the in-game checklist weighted story missions at 55%, miscellaneous at 20%, hobbies and Strangers & Freaks at 10% each, and random events at 5%. We expect a similar system for GTA 6, but that's an expectation until the game is out on November 19, 2026.

Rockstar hasn't shown GTA 6's completion checklist yet. For completionists that's the annoying part, because the real question is never if you'll hit 100%, it's what counts, so no hour gets wasted. What we can show you is exactly how GTA 5 worked.

In GTA 5, story missions were over half your percentage, and you never needed every single side activity. Expect a similar structure in GTA 6, but that's an expectation, not a fact.

Is there a GTA 6 100% checklist?

GTA 5 tracked a completion percentage, so we'd be surprised if GTA 6 doesn't. Still: ⚠️ expectation.

How 100% worked in GTA 5 (verified)

This is GTA 5, not GTA 6. GTA 5's in-game 100% checklist had five categories, each with a fixed weight. Figures per GTABase and Sportskeeda:

GTA 5 category Weight What you needed
Missions 55% All 69 story missions, ending with one of the three endings
Miscellaneous 20% 16 tasks, including collectibles and stunt jumps
Hobbies & Pastimes 10% 42 of 61 activities
Strangers & Freaks 10% Franklin's Strangers & Freaks (20 on the in-game list; GTABase counts 24 missions)
Random Events 5% Any 14 of 60

What GTA 5's "Miscellaneous" included

Per GTABase, the 20% bucket was a grab bag:

  • Collect all 50 spaceship parts and 50 letter scraps
  • Complete 25 of 50 stunt jumps and 25 of 50 under-the-bridge flights
  • Complete 8 of 15 knife flights
  • Buy 5 properties and a vehicle from an in-game website
  • Walk and play fetch with Chop, hold up a store, plus a handful of friend and nightlife activities

What did NOT count in GTA 5

  • ❌ The other 25 stunt jumps and bridge flights (only needed for separate achievements)
  • ❌ Gold medals on missions
  • ❌ Michael's and Trevor's Strangers & Freaks
  • ❌ Most newer-console extras like wildlife photography and peyote plants

Reward: the Career Criminal trophy/achievement, and finishing the checklist unlocked a final mission, "The Last One", per Sportskeeda.

The big GTA 5 lesson: 100% didn't mean "do everything." It meant "do the specific things on the checklist." That's why a verified checklist matters more than a giant list of activities.

What we expect for GTA 6 (expectation, not confirmed)

Based on GTA 5 and official footage, this is how we think the categories could map. Every row is ⚠️ our expectation:

Likely category Why we expect it Shown officially?
Story missions Always the biggest chunk in GTA 5 ✅ Missions, heists
Side jobs / character missions GTA 5 had Strangers & Freaks ✅ Solo jobs for one character
Hobbies & activities Racing, sports, fishing ✅ Basketball, fishing, scuba, racing
Random events Street encounters ⚠️ Not shown
Collectibles Every big Rockstar game has some ⚠️ None announced
Property / purchases GTA 5 counted property buys ⚠️ Not confirmed

How long will 100% take?

Rockstar North's Rob Nelson said his run took about 80 hours with the main story plus some optional goals (New York Times, via TechRadar). For 100%, our estimate is 150+ hours. For comparison, GTA 5's completionist average was about 79 hours on HowLongToBeat. Full breakdown: how long to beat GTA 6.
