Top 10 Places to Visit First in GTA 6

≈ ESTIMATELast updated:
Neon title card: Top 10 places to visit first in GTA 6

Quick answer

Our top pick is Vice City's beaches and nightlife, followed by Leonida Keys, Grassrivers and Mount Kalaga National Park. Every place on this list was named or shown officially by Rockstar, but the ranking is our own opinion. We'll re-rank it with our own footage after the November 19, 2026 launch.

You've got one evening, a new console download and all of Leonida in front of you. Where do you go first? Below is our top 10, built only from places Rockstar has officially named or shown.

Important: the places are ✅ confirmed. The ranking is our pick, an opinion based on what Rockstar has shown. After November 19 we'll replay every spot, record our own footage and re-rank it.

Ranking: ⚠️ our opinion, to be retested after launch.

1. Vice City

Rockstar's site says "each neighborhood has something to offer" and calls Vice City the "cruise ship capital of the world". The trailers show beaches, clubs, pastel towers and street racing. It's where the story starts to bite, so learn the streets early.

2. Leonida Keys

An island chain with laid-back bars and, in Rockstar's words, waters to watch out for. Boats, jet skis and scuba diving were all shown officially, and the Keys look built for them. Great first trip by water.

3. Grassrivers

Rockstar calls it Leonida's "untamable jewel": mangroves, murky water and gators, plus "deadlier predators". Airboats and alligators appear in official footage. Our tip: a swamp is a great place to test how the new wanted system reacts when you disappear.

4. Mount Kalaga National Park

On Leonida's northern border, linked by Rockstar with hunting, fishing and off-road trails, plus off-grid locals you probably shouldn't annoy. Expect the calmest scenery in the game and the best dirt-bike runs.

5. Port Gellhorn

A once-busy holiday spot gone rough: cheap motels, shuttered attractions and, per Rockstar's site, a diet of "malt liquor, painkillers, and truck stop energy drinks". Pure GTA satire. Go for the atmosphere.

6. Ambrosia

A blue-collar town built around the Allied Crystal sugar refinery, with a biker gang that seems to run the place. Industrial zones usually hide good chase routes and tense missions.

7. Ammu-Nation

The gun store is back: Trailer 2 shows an Ammu-Nation owner and a wall of weapons. Visit before you go looking for trouble. Just remember bystanders can call the cops if you pull a gun in public, per GameSpot. More: GTA 6 best weapons.

Free Day-1 Checklist

Don't walk into Nov 19 unprepared

  • ✔ Storage + pre-load plan for PS5 and Xbox
  • ✔ Launch-night timeline for your time zone
  • ✔ Scam & fake-leak red flags to ignore

8. An outdoor gym

Trailer 2 shows Jason working out, and reports from the Extended Look say exercise builds muscle while junk food adds weight. Early gym time could pay off, but how much it matters is ⚠️ unknown until launch.

9. Gambit Bay

Named in Rockstar's Ultimate Edition text: the Shitzu Squalo boat is "perfect for casting in Gambit Bay". Fishing is confirmed from the Extended Look. ⚠️ We don't know yet if the bay itself is tied to that edition; most likely it's simply part of the map.

10. Watson Bay

Also from the Ultimate Edition listing: the Paradise Garage in Watson Bay, with a weapon locker and a place to stash stolen goods. That garage is an Ultimate Edition bonus. The area is confirmed by name only. Editions explained: GTA 6 editions & price.

Places we left off (for now)

  • ⚠️ Theme parks, golf courses, tennis courts: mentioned in some lists, not verified by us in Rockstar footage.
  • ⚠️ A second state past Mount Kalaga: fan theory.
  • ❌ Anything from the 2022 leak. Old test footage isn't the final game.

How we'll rank it after launch

Criteria What we'll check
Fun in the first hour Can you do something cool right away?
Activities nearby Racing, fishing, diving, nightlife
Money and gear Shops, jobs, useful unlocks
Scenery Is it worth the drive for a screenshot?
Story access Open from the start, or unlocked later?

⏳ Awaiting launch: what we'll add on November 19

This page is a launch shell. After November 19, we'll visit every place in our own playthrough and update this page with:

  • A re-ranked top 10 based on what we actually played
  • Our own clips and screenshots from each place
  • Which areas are open from the start
  • Hidden spots we find along the way

Same URL, new date at the top. Get notified when this is verified: grab the free Day-1 Checklist below.

Our take: don't race across the map on night one. Spend it in Vice City learning the streets, then take a boat to the Keys when you want a break from the story.

Key takeaways
