Will GTA 6 Be Cross Platform? Crossplay Xbox & PS5 Explained
Quick answer
There's no GTA 6 crossplay at launch because GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 as a single-player game with no online mode. Rockstar hasn't announced crossplay or cross-save between PS5 and Xbox for a future online mode. Pick the console you like; you won't miss multiplayer with friends on day one.
Your buddy has an Xbox, you have a PS5. Can you play GTA 6 together? Here's the honest answer.
GTA 6 crossplay at launch: there's nothing to cross
GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 as a single-player game. Take-Two's CEO confirmed it in September 2026, and the ESRB rating has no "Users Interact" label. No online mode = no crossplay at launch, on any platform. Full story: GTA 6 Online release date.
Will GTA 6 Online be cross platform?
Not announced. The online mode itself hasn't been revealed yet, so there's no word on:
| Feature | Status |
|---|---|
| Crossplay PS5 ↔ Xbox | Not announced |
| Cross-save / cross-progression | Not announced |
| Online mode release date | Not announced |
Anything you read about "confirmed GTA 6 crossplay" is a rumor.
What GTA Online did
For reference: GTA Online on PS5 and Xbox Series hasn't offered PlayStation-to-Xbox crossplay. Players were grouped by platform family. That's history, not a promise for GTA 6.
