GTA 6 on Xbox Series S: Will It Run? Storage, FPS & Tips
Quick answer
Yes. GTA 6 is confirmed for Xbox Series X and Series S, launching November 19, 2026. The biggest Series S problem is space: the 512 GB model has only about 364 GB usable, and GTA 6's size isn't confirmed (we plan for ~150 GB). Resolution and fps on Series S haven't been announced; outside predictions point to a lower resolution than Series X.
Lots of Xbox players own the smaller Series S, and the big question is: will GTA 6 actually run on it? Short answer: yes, it's an official launch platform. But there's a catch.
Is GTA 6 on Xbox Series S? Yes
Rockstar lists Xbox Series X|S as a launch platform, alongside PS5. That "S" matters: Rockstar committed to the Series S version from the start. GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026, with pre-load from November 12 for digital pre-orders.
There's no Xbox One version announced.
The real Series S problem: storage
| Console | Advertised | Usable (approx.) |
|---|---|---|
| Xbox Series S (512 GB) | 512 GB | ~364 GB |
| Xbox Series S (1 TB) | 1 TB | ~800 GB |
| Xbox Series X | 1 TB | ~800 GB |
GTA 6's install size isn't confirmed. We plan for about 150 GB (estimate). On a 512 GB Series S, that's roughly 40% of your space. Check yours: storage calculator · how many GB will GTA 6 be?
How to make room on Series S
- Settings › System › Storage devices to see what's eating space.
- Uninstall games you finished. Your saves stay in the cloud.
- Delete old captures (clips and screenshots).
- Consider an official Storage Expansion Card if you keep many big games.
- Do it before November 12 so the pre-load doesn't fail.

GTA 6 Series S fps and resolution
Not announced. What's out there:
- Reported: Rockstar North's studio head reportedly said consoles run the game at 30fps during development (secondhand, August 2026).
- Estimate (not official): Digital Foundry has predicted Series S could land around 720p, with Series X and PS5 higher.
Expect the Series S to look softer than Series X, like most big games. It's still the same game, same map, same story.
