Quick answer
Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premiered on Netflix on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 3pm ET, then went up on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the GTA VI site six hours later, at 9pm ET. Rockstar announced it on August 6, 2026. Netflix lists it at 27 minutes (several outlets say 26), all captured in-game on PS5. It is a one-off special, not a series.

✅ CONFIRMED by Rockstar's own post on X and Netflix's Tudum page. Netflix made it available to all subscribers worldwide, with subtitles in 13 languages.
How long is the GTA 6 Extended Look?
About 26–27 minutes. Netflix's Tudum page lists it at 27 minutes (rated TV-MA). PC Gamer and Red Bull reported 26 minutes. Either way, it's the longest look at GTA 6 so far.
⚠️ You may see claims of "3 episodes" or "66 minutes". We found nothing official backing that up. Netflix lists one 27-minute special.
Where can I watch it now?
- Rockstar Games YouTube channel
- rockstargames.com/VI, listed as "An Extended Look"
- Netflix, where it premiered (we can't promise how long Netflix keeps it listed)
No Netflix account needed for the YouTube version.
What did the Extended Look show?
The big one: real gameplay, not just cutscenes. All footage was captured in-game on PS5, per Netflix. Highlights reported by PC Gamer, GameSpot and Red Bull:
- Shootouts with cover and a slow-mo kill cam
- Character switching between Jason and Lucia, even mid-mission and during car chases
- Six-star wanted level returns; police identify you by clothes, face/hair and car
- Criminal Profile: tracks your behavior over the whole game (like unnecessary violence) and doesn't reset like wanted stars
- Car theft: older cars can be stolen directly; newer ones need a key cloner, per GameSpot
- Body changes: workouts build muscle, junk food adds weight, per GameSpot and Red Bull
- Side activities: basketball, scuba diving, fishing, jet skiing, kayaking, dirt bikes, base jumping, street racing, dancing in clubs
- Pet (or scold) dogs with a button prompt

What Rockstar said around the reveal
These came from Rockstar interviews and statements around the same day, not all from the video itself:
- ~80 hours: Rockstar North's Rob Nelson said his playthrough of the main story plus narrative side content took about 80 hours (New York Times interview, reported by TechRadar).
- 30fps on consoles at launch, per TechRadar's report. See GTA 6 60fps.
- No microtransactions in the single-player game. Take-Two's CEO repeated this at the September 2026 shareholder meeting.
- No generative AI used in development, per Rockstar as reported by GameSpot.
- ⚠️ Map size: "about three times Red Dead Redemption 2" is reported by outlets. We haven't seen an official Rockstar number.
Why Netflix?
Rockstar didn't explain. Our take: a TV-style premiere turns a trailer into an event, and Netflix puts it in front of millions of people who don't follow gaming news. A smart move with a launch three months out.
Key takeaways
- ✅ Premiere: August 27, 2026, 3pm ET on Netflix; 9pm ET on Rockstar YouTube.
