Is GTA 6 coming to Switch 2?
Not announced. Rockstar's official announcements only list PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The most direct comment came from Nintendo. In October 2026, Devon Pritchard, Nintendo of America's new president, told Variety (via GameSpot):
"That's going to be a conversation for Take-Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time."
Nintendo didn't rule it out. It also didn't hint at anything. It passed the question back to the publisher.
Where did the Switch 2 rumor come from?
| Date | Claim | Status |
|---|---|---|
| May 2025 | Rockstar was testing whether GTA 6 could run on Switch 2 (NateTheHate) | ⚠️ Reported. He later said such tests are routine and don't mean a port is planned |
| 2025–2026 | Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick: not every title will come to Switch 2 | Official comment, nothing GTA 6-specific |
| Oct 2026 | Nintendo: "nothing to announce" | ✅ Official, no announcement |
Rockstar on Nintendo so far
For context, GameSpot and The Express Tribune note that GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is playable on Switch 2, while GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 never came to a Nintendo console. The original Red Dead Redemption did reach Switch 2 in late 2025. Our read: Rockstar ports older games to Nintendo, not its newest blockbusters at launch.
Is GTA 6 coming to mobile?
No mobile version has been announced. Not iOS, not Android, not a "lite" version.
That gap is where the scams live. In August 2026, McAfee warned about fake GTA 6 "VIP early access," "secret beta downloads" and "exclusive" launchers. A "GTA 6 mobile" APK is the same trick in a different wrapper: there's no real mobile game to download, so whatever you install isn't GTA 6. Rule of thumb: if it's on a random website, a Telegram channel or an ad, it's fake.
What's real on phones: Rockstar's older GTA games on mobile. GTA 6 isn't one of them.

Can you stream GTA 6 from the cloud?
This one changed in October.
- On October 6, 2026, The Verge reported (unnamed sources) that Microsoft had secured exclusive streaming rights to GTA 6.
- On October 7, Xbox chief strategy officer Matthew Ball posted on X: "We are looking forward to launching GTAVI on XBOX November 19, though the game will not be streaming exclusively or to PC."
| Cloud question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Exclusive Xbox streaming deal? | ❌ Denied by Xbox |
| Stream to PC via Xbox Cloud? | ❌ Denied by Xbox |
| Stream to phones/TVs? | Not addressed. Not announced |
| PlayStation cloud streaming? | Not announced |
No, you won't be playing GTA 6 on a laptop or phone through the cloud at launch, based on what's official now. If that changes, it'll show up on our GTA 6 news page first.

What has Take-Two said about other platforms?
The clearest recent comment came at Take-Two's shareholder meeting on September 17, 2026. Asked about PC, CEO Strauss Zelnick said Take-Two launches on platforms "for which there's a meaningful audience" and that "the PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time" (GamesRadar).
That's not an announcement for PC, Switch 2 or anything else. It's a strategy line. The full PC story, with Rockstar's console-first history: GTA 6 PC release date.
What should you do if you only have a Switch 2 or a phone?
- Want it on day one? You need a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. Cheapest route: GTA 6 on Xbox Series S.
- Still on PS4 or Xbox One? Not supported either: GTA 6 on PS4 & Xbox One.
- Waiting is fine. GTA 6 is single-player at launch, so there's no online crowd you'll fall behind: GTA 6 online.
We'll update this page the moment any new platform is announced. Get notified when this is verified: grab the free Day-1 Checklist below.
Our take: don't hold out for a Switch 2 or phone version, and never install a "GTA 6 mobile" app. If you want to play this year, a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S is the only way in.
